Becoming a Crystallographer

This is the blog of a future crystallographer, not that crystallography is the main area of discussion. I'll maybe mention it once in a while, while writing about my life and other things.

Work and weekends

I was supposed to finish this application for money today but I'd totally forgotten to copy my CV on to my USB-stick and thus I have to work on my CV at home today. I really have to get the application done. But since I haven't been working much on the application I've been doing other things. I've solved a structure that I've already got, I've cleaned up my desk, sorted the papers from last weeks demonstrations, done so playing around with this parking info sheet for like my residents' association in which I am now the secretary and I talked with my boss from Germany and got new chemicals. All in a days work.

I had a really nice weekend. Spent loads of time with the bnd but also got to see other friends. I even went climbing on Friday. Bicycled over there so it took like all night. See I was supposed to go play badminton with this friend I've been playing badminton with for the last couple of weeks but since there was this religious thing where we go play, we couldn't. So we went climbing instead. It was fun showing a new person something I really like doing and even more fun when he actually enjoyed it. I think I may be getting a new climbing friend. :) And spending Friday night climbing is like way great. No need to go out drinking or anything and loads of fun. Uh oh, I got higher up this wall I'd just gotten up higher on Tuesday of last week. I'm getting there - to the top.

And I actually cooked some food on Saturday. It was fun. See I was just supposed to have a friend over for coffee but since I was getting hungry I changed it into a "light lunch" and coffee. Then I got this idea to bake this tuna quiche thing so I did. Then since I had this banana that needed eating and some ice cream, we had dessert with the coffee and since I've had this bottle of cognac since like spring and no-one ever seems to want any, we had some cognac with the coffee. Oh it was hilarious how just having coffee can sort of turn into a proper meal with aperitifs and everything. The problem was of course that I was going for dinner with the bnd and ended up not being very hungry when we did. But it didn't matter much. Mind you, I only had very little cognac so I wasn't tipsy or anything like that. Well at least not until I had some wine with the food.

But it's past four. I best get home so that I still have energy to work on my CV. I'm wanting to have a friend over for coffee too and I don't want that to go too late.

Keep writing. I'm still reading this. Your weekend sounds nice. And it seems like you've made nice new friends to occupy the places of those that have moved elsewhere. I want to try climbing with you too. :)
