Back to school
Schools started here like two weeks ago. Now on my way to work I have to look out for little kids. The thing I've noticed is the fashion in school bags. All these little kids have these really weird bags. Bags no adult or person older than 12 would ever use. Or at least hopefully. They are colorfull and like squares (or well rectangles of a sort). They have these flaps that you have to open to get to the stuff. Kind of like they were old fashioned bags but of course with the colors and materials they are nowhere near old fashioned looking.
I was just wondering this morning about where fashions like that start. The bags are really big so they look kind of silly on all these little kids (really like most all of them have them) and I can't imagine them copying like any famous person unless the famous person is also a little kid. What factory came up with the idea? How did they sell it to all these kids to make their parents buy that specific kind of bag? Is it a status symbol and is there a certain brand that is the most expensive and only the popular kids have them?
I'm sure the bags are the kind with separate compartments for all the things one might and might not need for school. I remember a bag like that from when I was a kid. It did seem kind of cool. Luckily as far as I remember my parents bought me regular bookbags. Since we didn't have the kind with horses and such printed on them we got stickers on them at least in first grade. I can't remember what was on the sticker but my bag was blue and green, I think. Elina's was like pink and orange or red of some sort. Those bags were functional and no-one teased me because of my bag. Not that I can remember ever thinking about what was fashionable till in fourth grade it started to get fashionable to get these certain boots for girls (I never got or wanted ones), Coca-Cola yo-yos and Skooshes or whatever those plastic stringy things were. I guess times have changed or else I was a weird kid.

I haven't really paid attention to the very youngest kids fashions, but it seems like really young kids wear the same clothes I do. Or so much more fashionable... Don't they sell pink shirts with butterflies on them anymore for 10-year old. I know it sounds really unfashionable now, but kids are not supposed to be fashionable. Only by wearing all kinds of horrid things will they find their own style in the end. And you know what are they gonna wear when they are our age?
I don't even want to talk about how much better and more kids put on make up than me...
Gotta go do laundry...

i dislike youth fashions as well. kids are supposed to be kids - not fashion icons of "their age".
those bags sound kinda funny. who'd volentarily want one if it wasn't some sort of fashion thingy. it does seem that whenever you see something out of place or weird or plain outright ugly it's usually FASHION.. ;)
too much work lately, haven't checked your blog in a few days. lots to read :)
