Becoming a Crystallographer

This is the blog of a future crystallographer, not that crystallography is the main area of discussion. I'll maybe mention it once in a while, while writing about my life and other things.

Blabbering

I miss my books. Not the weird collection of fiction I've got collected in my appartment (or the cellar of the house) in Finland but the chemistry books. Looking for references I could use for thermal analysis methods is stupid to do from the company library when I had a good book right in my shelf at home. And if I did not have a good enough book the university library had lots. No way to get to any of those sources of information now. Articles I can print out from various journals just don't have the simple information I would like to read to get oriented to actually writing something myself. At home I would also look the notes from the course I was on a year ago and all would return to my head. I did get an A on the course...:) But no, I'm just wasting my time at work doing practically nothing - "writing and planning the writing" of my master's thesis. The truth is I might have wasted today. Better luck next week I guess. I've got one book I can read and two articles. That should get me started.

I figured out what was wrong with my phone. I'm telling this just to make people know I'm not the kind of person who does not wake up to an alarm. Well, for some reason the alarm only did a little kling/piip when going on. I checked all the setting but it seemed nothing was the matter. I even tried changing the tune for it but nothing worked. While changing the tune though I noticed that some of the files did not work and upon further investigation it turned out that for some reason or another none of the tunes nor pictures on my phone worked. Well what does a smart person do when the memory of one's phone is broken or such. I turned my phone off, took out the battery and sim-card and put it back together again. And everything started working again. The only part I don't get is that according to my knowledge the tunes are saved on the phone memory and moving the battery should not affect that. Right? Well anyway. I guess I must have banged the phone on something to cause the problem. But problem solved so as long as it does not become an epidemic all is well with my new phone.

Skating was great again on wednesday. I should be going on a biketrip on saturday. That should be fun. It's going to be like 60 km or so.

I'm sorry I'm not writing about anything interesting but I guess my life is jsut not that interesting at the moment. The highpoint of yesterday was going to buy another book and a little pizza to go for 1,50 (really cheap I think and not having an oven I miss having pizza) at the local mall. I also did laundry. Started reading the book but it felt like I'd seen it all before on Law&Order though the book takes place in London. I should have gone across the river to get a book but I was too tired. I will go there on Monday anyways so I'll try to make myself buy maybe two books then along with a dictionary and the book for my German course. Now I think I'll skip out early to smoke and loiter next to the workplace. Or buy some wine in 3 liter canisters from outside the gate, go home and get wasted while reading reruns of Law&Order and listening to music on the lovely laptop I have that functions mostly as a cd/dvd-player lately.

Uh oh I just noticed that since I have to go across the river on monday after work to the course I can have my dinner at Kim Fastfood. :) My favorite oriental fastfood restaurant here. Also the only one I've been to (3 times).
